Library sale

The last time I went to the Library book sale, I got a lot of junk that I didn't need. One huge tome on the life of Elizabeth II, which was a good biography of a boring person. Unfortunately the biography of a boring person is necessarily boring. Yes, she was a good queen, even though she was really blur about her own family. Plus she does keep herself very up to date on the matters of state, but she doesn't have to make a lot of decisions or run the country, so there's this issue about how much her life's work is really worth. Plus the author was quite obviously pro-monarchy.

One book on life in Cambodia during the Pol Pot regime. Unfortunately it was too academic and I sold it without reading a page. Instead I got a copy of Philip Short's bio of Pol Pot and that's more like history written with the lay reader in mind.

One book on the life of Hong Xiuquan, who proclaimed himself to be Jesus and later led the Taiping rebellion. Still unread.

Basically a lot of junk to clog up your home with.

So if you want to clog up your home with plenty of junk, do visit the Library sale. Oh, and go early. Friday if possible. If you go there on Saturday onwards you might as well not go.
